NICKY DOMICAN HAIR SALON Reviews

Please BLACK WOMEN DO NOTHING TRUST THIS ESTABLISHMENT WITH YOUR NATURAL HAIR, THEY ARE KNOWN TO PUT PERMS IN THE CONDITIONER. ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR BLACK WOMEN! I went here without reading the reviews wish I did! I went to get a simple wash and trim. I didn’t ask for a treatment, no roller set, nothing just a wash blow and trim. The women puts some kind of “conditioner” in my hair and it was a texturizer! Completely changed my hair pattern and killed my natural hair It looked like Michael Jackson hair days later MY HAIR STARTED SHEDDING AND FALLING OUT IN CLUMPS. I went back to the salon to complain, of course now NOBODY SPEAKS ENGLISH NOBODY KNOWS NOTHING AND THE OWNER WASNT THERE. I EVENTUALLY SPEAK TO THE OWNER WHO APOLOGIZED AND SAID SHE CANT DO NOTHING . When I refused to accept that as the solution she then started to tell me I had the wrong salon and I was never serviced there in the first place.

I am here at the salon with my granddaughter. We tried to explain to the lady that she’s getting a touchup. She proceeds and washing her hair. We try to explain to her she was getting a touch up. The language barrier is not good. She didn’t understand me and I didn’t understand her so unfortunately, this is my last time coming here.

“I had an amazing experience with their hair services! The staff was professional, attentive, and truly skilled. Not only did they do a fantastic job on my hair, but their customer service was exceptional. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable—even offering me a fresh cup of coffee as an added touch. It’s rare to find such a welcoming and detail-oriented salon. Highly recommend!”

I went to this place last weekend because I just moved in the neighborhood and wanted to see if I could find someone to do a simple wash and set and blow. However, the wash job was terrible, the roller set was chaotic. The woman picked up a comb that fell on the floor, removed hair from it and made an attempt to use it in my hair. I immediately stopped her and asked about sterilization protocols. It was obvious that she had no idea what I was referring to. After leaving the dryer, another woman came to blow dry my hair. I told her to blow the root of hair only and wrap it afterwards. She then began blowing my hair from root to end. I reminded her that I only wanted the root to be done. After a terrible blow out, I gave her my pins to wrap my hair. This is when I realized that this woman has no business doing anyones hair. The pins were sticking up in several directions. My head looked like an out of control compass. I was speechless. I immediately removed all the pins and went to the register to check out. The woman said $40. I have NEVER paid $40 for a wash, set and blow dry WITHOUT deep conditioning in my life. Black women do not waste your time, energy or money in this place. You will regret it!!

NOT FOR BLACK WOMEN, TRULY. I’ve never ever had a problem at the Dominican hair salon, but I’ve heard many horror stories. My hair is about 3c/4a fyi. However, after 30 years, 3.5 of which I was actively growing my hair from a buzz cut in 2020, my hair has been RUINED. 18” of virgin hair growth, ruined to keratin on a $40 service. Wasn’t even a good wash & blowdry either. This predatory practice of ruining black womens hair with harmful chemicals MUST end. I should have read the reviews first except I came here on a recommendation from someone who cared for my hair for YEARS. They never got treated like this I guess.
